Now i'm not really one to gush over artists but if I was going to gush over anyone a likely candidate would be Maxwell. My first exposure was actually through his unplugged CD which just left me stunned and amazed at the man's vocal prowess and his ability to convey emotion through a song. His studio albums don't always have the same power but Maxwell is still a very obviously talented artist. This album is a front to back listener. There isn't a single weak song on here and there are a couple of stellar ones. A special mention must go to the cover of Kate Bush's 'This Womens Work' however as it really stands out even amongst some other very strong songs. The live version is better but this studio version still makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Listen. Now!

Bell Biv DeVoe has just signed with Universal Records to record their highly anticipated fourth album next year.. Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe will begin pre-production for the up coming BBD album after the holidays.. No word yet on the name of the album or it's release date, but BBD will definitely set it off in the year 2001..

The final movie of the series is the best one out of all of them. I think if you like the Twilight movies than this Twilight movie will be the one that you will really enjoy that is how good Breaking Dawn Part 2 is. It is one of the best movies of the year. New Edition is back! At least as solo artists that is.. Yet the many collaborations of the members on each other songs makes it feel like old times again..
Ricky Bell's new acoustic style makes it apparent that after being in the business for 17 years, he continues to mature vocally and musically.. 'Acoustic Struggle' is laced with smooth crooning from Ricky Bell and Johnny Gill against the acoustic guitar..

Bell and Gill also did some crooning on a few tracks for Ronnie ÐeVoe, who's up & coming album features several New Edition members.. Two of ÐeVoe's tracks(Private Letter: featuring Johnny Gill) and (I Like: featuring J.R.E.) are two of his best songs from his album..

ÐeVoe is also featured on Ralph Tresvant's new midi file release 'U Need A Man'.. Tresvant album is expected to be out in 2001, but in the meantime, fans can get a taste of Mr. Sensitivity himself on such songs as 'Start 2 Wonder' and 'Bad Girl'..

Greeted by hundreds of cheering fans, a candlelight vigil led by comedian Chris Rock and wife Whitney Houston waiting in a white stretch limo, singer Bobby Brown emerged from a Florida jail early Friday (July 7th) after serving 26 days of a sentence for violating probation..

``He was smiling and waving and obviously happy to be out,' said Jim Leljedal, a spokesman for the Broward County Sheriff Department..

Brown, a former vocalist with the rhythm and blues group New Edition, was sentenced to a 75-day jail term June 12 for breaking probation restrictions stemming from a 1996 drunken driving incident in Hollywood, Florida..

Brown, who already had served 39 days of the sentence and earned a 10-day reprieve for good behavior, was released shortly after midnight to popping media flashbulbs..

The singer was picked up in New Jersey in May on a year-old warrant after he tested positive for cocaine use in a urine screening and broke probationary travel restrictions..

Brown was intercepted at Newark International Airport while returning from the Bahamas to the New Jersey home he shares with Houston and their daughter..
Ðuring his prison term at the medium security Joseph Conte Center, Brown wore the standard-issue prison uniform and shared a two-bed cell..

Bobby Brown pled not guilty to violating his probation in Broward County Circuit Court in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on Monday (May 22), according to a spokesperson for the Broward State Attorney's Office..

Brown also asked the judge for bond in the case, a request which was denied.. As a result, Brown will remain in jail where he has been since his May 10 arrest at the Newark, N.J. airport.. Brown has been wanted on an outstanding Florida warrant stemming from an alleged probation violation in which the singer's urine allegedly tested positive for cocaine use..

Brown's next court date was not yet known at press time..

Bobby Brown was arrested and sent to a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., jail Wednesday for violating terms of his probation.. He is reportedly being held without bail..

A warrant was issued for Brown in June of last year, when cocaine showed up in a drug test taken by the former New Edition singer, who refused to take a second test that might have cleared him. Brown, traveling with his wife, Whitney Houston, and their family, was picked up by customs officials in New Jersey, after returning from a trip to the Bahamas..

The probation stems from a drunken driving incident that took place in Florida in 1996, in which Brown crashed Houston's Porsche.. In September 1997, Brown served five days in jail for the incident, but he arrived at the jail drunk..

He has since spent time in rehab clinics, though it appears that the treatment has failed to stick.. Brown could face up to 90 days in jail..
He has a court date scheduled for May 22..

After assembling such platinum-selling teen groups as New Edition and New Kids On The Block, manager and producer Maurice Starr has put together a new act, 6 Piece, which he plans to unveil on an Atlanta radio station in March..

Atlanta station WBTS will host Starr and 6 Piece on March 3 in order to premiere the band's debut song, and former New Kids On The Block members Joey McIntyre and Jordan Knight will be on hand to informally pass the pop torch over to the new outfit..

Little other information is being released about 6 Piece prior to its radio debut, although the band is said to be based in Atlanta. On March 5 and 6, Starr will showcase 6 Piece at a pair of exclusive, invitation-only concerts being staged at the city's Celebrity Rock Café..
The group tentatively plans to release its debut record in the early summer..

According to Billboard on-line, Ralph Tresvant has formed a new record label.. Tresvant's brother, Derek, will be the general manager of Rated R Records, a Boston-based-Hip-Hop & R&B imprint that will also have an office in New York..

Rated R, which is in talks to secure national distribution, plans to release Ralph Tresvant's first solo album in five years during the first quarter of 2000..

In addition, he and fellow New Edition members Ricky Bell and Bobby Brown are recording a Rated R album, tentatively titled 'Triple Threat' for next year..

MCA Records Inc. has filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against New Edition members Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Ricardo Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronald DeVoe for alleged failure to deliver albums owed under two different contracts.

Àccording to Billboard Bulletin, the suit, filed Oct. 15 in California State Superior Court for the County of Los Angeles, claims that MCA is owed four New Edition albums by the artists and two Bell Biv DeVoe albums by the latter three. The New Edition albums are due under a 1984 contract and the Bell Biv DeVoe albums under a 1991 agreement. According to the suit, the artists are citing the California Labor Code statute that limits personal service contracts to seven years; MCA claims that had the artists delivered the albums in a timely manner, all the albums would have been delivered within seven years of the contracts' starting dates.

The suit, which also names the artists' production companies, Jump And Shoot Productions Inc. and Neo Partnership, seeks unspecified damages and legal costs.
The artists could not be reached for comment by deadline..
